Indigenous perspectives and 8 ways of learning

Indigenous perspectives and 8 ways of learning

Incorporating these 8 Aboriginal ways of learning is different for every school. It’s important that unique plans are created for each school so that they are adjusted to fit the learning environment and intended outcomes. This pedagogy framework enables schools to include Aboriginal perspectives by utilising aboriginal learning techniques.  The school that I completed my EDFX348 placement unit plans outlined the schools individual link to the 8 Aboriginal ways of learning. This school is a SSP school that enrolled students with special learning needs. The school has to have an approach to learning that considers a diverse range of learning abilities.  By incorporating this pedagogy, the school was able to reach a two-dimensional outcome of learning. The first being that they were able to approach different aspects of learning and apply these 8 ways to the student’s needs, and secondly it enabled them to focus of developing students understanding and regards to the concept of Aboriginal people and the culture of Australia. I believed this enhanced students’ involvement with the Australian curriculum and to have a constant awareness of the environment of learning.
